The Ahane U14 Hurlers competitive hurling season started in great fashion in Mackey Park earlier today in the Féile na nGael B group.

There was a superb effort by all 20 players who turned in a magnificent team effort to record wins over Murroe-Boher and Cappamore. First up for the players was a close encounter against our near neighbours Murroe-Boher with nothing between the teams for long stretches of the match. The Ahane players put in a spirited team effort and played some lovely hurling in the second half to record a five point win.

The team continued their winning way in the second match of the Feile group stage with a tough game against Cappamore. Cappamore went in a point up at half time but another fantastic second half effort by the Ahane squad led to a 12 point win to ensure Ahane topped Group B and qualify for the quarter final.

All the players did themselves and Ahane proud on the day and the U14 hurling mentors thanked each of the boys for their positive attitude and support play for each other to ensure that they team advanced to the next round of the competition out of a very competitive group. A special mention was given to Sean and Jack from the U12 squad for supporting the U14 squad.

A massive THANK YOU to those who supported the team in Ahane today and all who made sandwiches, brought fruit, cakes and took care of the visitors from Murroe-Boher and Cappamore GAA clubs – another great team effort off the field by one and all. It was great to see so many supporters in Ahane to cheer on the team today – it was greatly appreciated by the team.

Next up for the U14 players is an away Feile quarter final on Sunday 14th April against Ballybrown – we hope that as many of you as possible can make the trip to Ballybrown GAA (clubhouse pitch) to cheer on the boys. Go n-éirí an bóthar leat. Áthain Abú.
