A massive well done to the U14 hurlers who performed so admirably in the Feile fixtures over the weekend. The young squad gave their all on both Saturday and Sunday and went out at the quarter final stage after a titanic effort against Ballybrown.

On the back of 2 entertaining wins on Saturday in Mackey Park, the team, mentors and a large number of supporters made the trip to Clarina yesterday morning for a tough encounter against the home team at their clubhouse pitch in challenging weather conditions. The Ahane squad left everything on the pitch but came up a tad short against a bigger Ballybrown outfit who coped better with the conditions on the day and found scores a little easier to get. There was a huge crowd of parents and supported on the sidelines from both clubs and all the players were deservedly clapped off the pitch after a magnificent game of hurling.

A wonderful U13 and U14 squad effort over the 2 days – well done to Tony, Ryan, Conor, James R, Liam Og, Stephen, James O’M, Jack B, Cathal, Paddy, Sean O’N, Will, Kyle, David, John, Jamie, Tadhg, Danny and Donnacha. A special mention to Jack C and Sean R from U12 squad who supported the team and to our injured U13 player Cian who roared on the team over the 2 days in a sling.

Well done to Ballybrown on a fine win and we wish them all the very best in the Feile semi-final next weekend. We look forward to the return visit to Mackey Park in the league in a few weeks in what should be another memorable game.
