Unfortunately yesterday wasn’t to be and we lost out to a very good Newcastle West team. In a game that was jam packed with hard hits, great skill and high intensity it was Newcastle West that came out the better with a nine point victory.

To the hard working, dedicated panel of girls who from the cold long nights in January to the fine summer evenings in July have represented the club so well, we want to thank you all. What you have done for Camogie in the club over the last number of years has been amazing and we are so very lucky to have such role models for our younger players. As a club we are incredibly proud of how you have all held yourselves throughout the season and of the top class camogie you have played all season. You are a credit to your friends, family, and to yourselves ❤️

Our Captain Rose Collins and two Vice Captains, Noreen Flanagan and Áine Reynolds, when we needed leaders all three of you stepped up, when the girls need someone to drive them on you were there. Rose drove it from full back and no matter whether you were on the field of play or in the stands you could hear Rose shouting encouragement at her players. Rose is a role model to each and every player in the club. Rose was an outstanding captain and we are beyond proud to call her one of our own 💚💛

To our ever dedicated manager Phelim Macken who has been the back bone of so many teams in the club both hurling and Camogie, there will never be enough words to say how thankful we are for all you have done for the club and all the hours, time, effort and work you have put in over the years. We will never be able to repay you but we hope you know how appreciative we are to have had you as our senior manager.

To Jonathan Hayes and Liam Reale, what you both have done for the girls over the last two years has been incredible and we are forever grateful for the time, effort, and dedication you have given to the girls and the club.

And where would we be without Alice Reynolds and Toni Macken! Alice has been a friend, a coach, a Mammy to us all and we would be so lost without her! ❤️ The hours Alice puts in behind the scenes every year is monumental to the club running as successfully as it does and we are so grateful to have her! Toni has literally kept the girls on the field and moving, she has probably ran more miles in the season than anyone else! She has ensured all our players are match ready and has gone above and beyond the call of duty to ensure any injuries were looked after and managed correctly which was a massive advantage to all the girls!

Huge thank you to the Herbert family for their continuous support of both the girls and the club, they always give us a heroes welcome win lose or draw! Massive thank you to Dairmuid and Blá especially for the unbelievable spread of food they put on for us yesterday it was much enjoyed and appreciated by all!

Last but not least, thank you to each and every single person who has travelled to watch the girls play this year, from the league to championship matches to challenge games, to see so many from the club out supporting the girls is amazing and we really hope you will all be out again next year for the 2020 season!

And that’s it, the 2019 season is complete, although it didn’t end the way we wanted we still have so many positives to take out of it and we have so much talent to build on for next year!

Girls and management enjoy your well deserved break! 💚💛
