MUNSTER TREE SURGEONS ANNOUNCED AS NEW SENIOR CLUB SPONSOR :

Ahane GAA are absolutely delighted and excited to announce that Munster Tree Surgeons Ltd will become the new main sponsors of Ahane Senior & U21 Hurling Teams for the 2017 season .
As you all know Munster Tree Surgeons are owned and operated by former Ahane Senior player and County Senior Hurling Championship medalist Martin Haugh, originally from Montpellier and now living in Killaloe.
The Haugh family have been fantastic supporters of Ahane GAA over the years and the club again are extremely grateful to Martin ,his father and partner Johnny & Co for their most generous support going forward .
Munster Tree Surgeons have been in operation as a family business specialising in arboriculture since 1973 and Martin founded the present company in 2013.Munster Tree Surgeons provide an extensive range of services including tree felling ,disease management ,crown reduction, trimming and mulching
Special thanks must also go to East Board Delegate Finbar McCarthy, Club Chairman Colm Barry and new Treasurer Carol Condon for their input with the sponsorship proposal.

CLUBIFY :

Ahane's Clubify App is up,running and motoring with record numbers of hits being recorded on the Ahane App across the social media networks .As more and more people use their smartphones for up to date news we feel Clubify is the way forward as a means of club communication.
We already have well over 100 supporters signed in to the app and even Ahane supporters logging in from far flung locations such as Australia ,Singapore and Venezuela .
The app founder Declan Murphy recently held an information evening about the app in the club which was very well attended and most informative
Declan can be contacted in relation to Clubify matters on 087 2027295
However as with any publication we are only as good as the content on the app in the first place and also we ask everyone with a smartphone to download the app . We urge interested parties to get involved in the app from the various groups within the club .

SENIOR HURLING :

Due to the vagaries surrounding the planning of U21 Championship Fixture List, the Senior Hurlers training schedule has been severely curtailed .
However we know with confidence that under our new management team ,that as soon as the U21 championship is completed ,the lads will have a uninterrupted run into the season proper and can prepare for some tough matches ahead .

U21 HURLING :

Ahane qualified for the semi final of the Mint Catering U21 with a hard fought win over Adare on a rain sodden St Patricks Day at Mungret .
After various wrangling over the fixture date and venue ,the lads played Doon in the semi final last Tuesday night at the Gaelic Grounds with Doon eventually outgunning us by a scoreline of 0-14 to 0-09.
Our lads never really got out of the blocks and were second best for most of the game to a more accurate Doon outfit .We wish our fellow East Division colleagues the very best of luck in the Final .

CON & ANNIE KIRBY MEMORIAL STAKE :

All roads lead to Limerick Greyhound Stadium again next Saturday night as Ahane's canine superstar Bentekes Bocko runs in the semi final of the second richest greyhound race in the country .If Bocko can get into the first 3 of his semi final and can reach the final ,we are guaranteed a minimum of €1000 for last place right up to €5000 for first .
Bocko has been drawn in his favoured Trap 2 and his eminent trainer Pat Buckley from Doon reckons he is only getting stronger and better .
Come on to support Bocko next Saturday night and be part of his ever growing fan club in the parish as he tries his heart out to win us that massive cash prize
Again sincere thanks to the McManus Family for supporting this great initiative which brings together the great sports of Gaelic Games and Greyhound Racing .

BORD NA nOG HURLING & FOOTBALL :

All Bord na Nog teams are back in full swing .The U6 Hurling Spud Ógs are training in Lisnagry NS Indoor Hall on Tuesdays at 5.45-6.30 with great numbers of boys and girls signing up .Please contact Gina Hourigan at 087 2204600 to sign up all kids born in the parish in 2011 and 2012.

The U8 Hurlers continue on Tuesdays in Delta from 6-7pm
The U10s continue in UL North Campus on one more Friday from 6.30-8pm before returning to Mackey Park every Monday at 6.30-8.00pm
The U12s train every Tuesday at Ahane GAA 6.15-7.15pm
The U14s also train at the club on Wednesdays 6.30-7.30 and Saturdays 4.30
The U16s tog out on Wednesdays at the club from 7.30-8.30 and Sundays at 11am

All underage players from U10 upwards are invited to specific Gaelic Football Skills Training sessions in Mackey Park every Saturday from 4.30 to 5.30pm.

JUNIOR FOOTBALL :

The Junior Footballers made their seasonal bow away against Ballylanders in Division 4 of the County last Saturday .Although coming off second best on the day ,only for the intervention of a Charlie Nelligan type goalkeeper on the oppositions team ,our boys could have had 4 or 5 goals scored in the first half alone .When we do get our shooting more finely tuned Jimmy "Willie Joe" Feerick reckons Ahane Junior Footballers will be a serious force to be reckoned with this year .
Next fixture is down for Thursday April 30 v Ballybricken at Mackey Park.
Throw in is at 6.45pm and everyone is encouraged to support the lads
Remember Ahane won 5 Limerick Senior Football Titles between 1935 and 1939 with the likes of the late ,great Mick Mackey who loved playing with the big ball.
