Senior Hurling : The next rounds of the SHC will take place later next month with Ahane having games against Kilmallock and South Liberties.

Minor Hurling : Ahane Minor training continued this week on Thursday, while on Sunday the Ahane Minors, minus all exam students at leaving and Junior Cert, took on a near full strength Cappamore team in a well worthwhile challenge match at Mackey Park and our young team coped admirably and put up a fine score of 3-14.  On Sunday next 25th June, Ahane will host the annual Tom Blake Tournament where Ahane will take on Monaleen at 1pm in Mackey Park.   This tournament will be held in memory of Tom and Mags Blake with the presentation ceremony afterwards in the clubhouse. All members are encouraged to come along on the day and show their support.

Ahane GAA Club Golf Classic 2017 : Ahane hosted their annual Golf Classic in CastletroyGolf Club on Thursday 15th and Friday 16th June.  It seemed as if Ahane GAA had taken over the Golf club over the 2 days with Ahane flags and banners in full show around the clubhouse.  A total of 76 teams participated over the 2 days and there was also some incredibly generous sponsorship and support from local businesses, which helped to make the event a hugely successful venture and Ahane GAA Club would like to sincerely thank all those that supported it. There was also a very popular hole in one competition for a car, which attracted huge interest over the 2 day event.  Huge credit to all the volunteers who made the event run so smoothly and a big thank you to Castletroy Golf Club for the splendid condition of the golf course and the fabulous food served both on the course and afterwards in the Clubhouse.  There was a splendid array of sponsored prizes at the presentation on Friday night where everyone that attended enjoyed a great evening’s entertainment.

As Gaeilge : Deascéal ón gclub ná dearcadh dearfach na n-imreoirí sinsir agus an sár obair atá ar siúl acu. Is é an painéal is óige a bhí ag Atháin le fada agus is iontach an traenáil atá ar siúl acu agus an fuinneamh agus an fonn oibre chomh maith.  Le déanaí bhí iomáint bothair acu chun ciste a bhunú mar chabhair ar thraenáil agus feistis iomána.  Is iomaí duine acu atá ag cabhrú leis na foirne I mBord na nÓg ó thaobh teagasc sna bunscileanna. Freisin, tá cur isteach acu sna cluichí sna bunscoileanna sa pharóiste.  Tugann said tacaíocht do go leor gníomhachtaí atá ar siúl sa chlub agus de réir an grúpa bainistíochta is grúpa macánta iad. Comhghairdeas libh leads! Maith sibh!

U8 : Our U8 Hurlers hosted a Club Blitz on Friday evening last with Na Piarsaigh, St.Patricks & Claughaun visiting Mackey Park. On what was a lovely evening for Hurling all teams showed off their skills in 3 very competitive games. Ahane had some great scores during their 3 games and their defending was top class in keeping their opponents scores to a minimum. Thanks to all Parents for attending on the night & to the U8 Mentors for the hard work they are putting in with this dedicated bunch of players. Training continues on Monday in Mackey at 6.15pm and we will be hosting another Hurling Blitz next Friday at 6.30pm. We look forward to seeing you all there !!!  Football training continues on Sunday mornings at 10.30 and all newcomers will be warmly welcomed.

U10 : Hurling Training continues Monday 6:30-7:45pm and Friday 6:30-7:45pm.  Football training on Sunday morning‘s from 10:30-12:00.

U12 : Next league game is scheduled for Friday next 23rd June with an away Football game to Na Piarsaigh.  The U12 hurlers are away to Ballybrown on Thursday 29th June.  Hurling training continues on Monday evening at 6.30pm and on Friday evenings at 6.30pm (unless clashing with league games) with Football training on Sunday morning at 1030.

U14 : – The Ahane U14 Hurlers travelled to Bishopstown GAA on Saturday to take part in the Feile Hurling Provincial Finals day in Bishopstown GAA Club in Cork.  The team bus with 17 players departed early from Mackey Park at 0830 with Anne Marie and Martin giving the traditional flag waving send off.  The squad was short a few regulars and had to call and add 7 of the U12 panel to the squad on the day.  The players enjoyed 3 games against some quality sides in Rockwell Rosegreen from Tipperary, and 2 teams from Cork – Sliabh Rua and Bishopstown and the 17 players will learn greatly over the coming weeks and months from having participated and taking on such strong sides.   A big thank you to Bishopstown GAA for hosting us and providing food and refreshments to the players and supporters and for running a very well organised Feile day.  Thank you to Justine, Anne Marie, Karen, Roisin and Ciara for making the long trip by car to see the players in action and cheer on the players and a big well done to our excellent water / hurley carriers (James and Cathal) for their top class professional support to the U14 mentors and players.  The players and mentors thoroughly enjoyed a great day out together on the bus journey to and from Cork with plenty of music, chat and wifi and iphones being used on the journey.  The players and mentors took a well deserved snack break in Mallow on the return journey and arrived back in Mackey Park at 5.30pm after a day to remember.

The Ahane U14 football team hosted St. Senan’s on Monday 19th June with a home league fixture.  The team put in a very spirited and committed effort over the course of the game and thoroughly deserved their win on the night.  Well done to all 19 players on a fine performance - the football training is paying off – more to do but there was a big improvement in the teamwork, passing and skills.  The U14 hurlers have an away league game to Southside Gaels on Wednesday 21st June and we hope that we can record a second win this week in the U14 grade.
